Full & Partial Dentures

Depending on your specific smile situation, Dr. Tanner will either recommend full or partial prosthetics. There are different qualifications for each, so below we have described each and what type of smiles would benefit from each one.
Full Dentures
With a full restorative denture, full rows of artificial teeth and gums that rest on the jaw bone to give someone a new smile. Although it is common for older patients to utilize a full denture, recently a more diverse age range of patients has been selecting it as their treatment of choice.

Missing most of your teeth will affect how you do the easiest, daily activities such as speaking and chewing. If you only have a select few natural teeth left in your mouth, the best option would be to have them extracted and receive a new full set.
Traditional, full dentures are made to rest right on the gums holding them in place. This type is removable and will stay in place throughout the day.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are designed to help patients who have a few natural teeth left that are strong and healthy, regain a full smile. A partial denture stays in place with the use of metal clasps and frameworks. On the framework, the artificial teeth are attached in the designed areas that need tooth replacement.
Partials can be used as a type of retainer, meaning they can be removable or there is a permanently fixed option. Fixed partial dentures attach to your smile through the use of dental crowns being placed onto existing, anchor teeth.
